Intro to prophetic current quarter

So steeped in our worldview it's hard to imagine a world without it,
and may even feel it immoral to suggest that there is no place for
violence. What about national defence? Personal security? Terrorism?
Crime? Etc. I strongly believe that part of jesus' mission was to live
a life exemplifying nonviolence.

And that as christians we are called to renounce violence (evil) in all it's forms. How do we see jesus responding to violence? Gender violence- woman at the well, appearing
to women first at resurrection, healing of woman bleeding over jairus
daughter, structure/power, woes and discussions with teachers,
healings on sabbath, clearing out temple, was that really nonvidlent?
Direct violence, turn cheek, wall extra mile, other? If we are
followers of jesus, how well are we as ind and community doing in
violence? How are we promoting nonviolence? Building peace, working
towards anderson's 6 points - core issue, resist violence and
provocation to violence, etc. One way that i am exploring to
counteract the culture of violence is through reflective story
telling. I will be using ammunity stories to show that alternatives
are possible and normative, and effective. That violence is not
inevitable or necessary. So i invite you on a journey for the next 6
weeks to reflect on violence as a prophetic issue, and nonviolence -
peace by peaceful means - as the antidote. This is a scripturally and
prayer centered journey, ultimately looking to jesus as our model,
inspiration, and energy. And our teams, communities, families as the
fertile ground for practicing a new way of being. Perhaps most of us
don't struggle with violence, but are we working to reduce and
eradicte violence from our community and culture? Or relationships? As
we wall this journey, i'd like - love - to have your input and
engagement. You can send email to garden of prophets. What are your
experiments in peace by peaceful means? I know there are many!
